SotDL - Of Monstrous Mien

It's been a while as I've been swamped with work, but +Robert Schwalb has just published  a new Monstrous Pages supplement, Of Monstrous Mien, written by yours truly.  It takes the generic Monster templates for Shadow of the Demon Lord and expands them with a selection of tables and traits that allow you to quickly generate all manner of freakish abominations.

Work is swamping me at the moment, but just found a quick breather to update the Names of Rul document for SotDL with new tables for generating Beastmen and Incarnation names, based on Hunger in the Void and Rob Schwalb's thumbs-up on the beastmen naming scheme I created. Thanks again, Rob!

TimeWatch Agents - Princess Anne of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg

Socialite and aviation enthusiast, Princess Anne was born in England to the 4th Earl of Mexborough, and became a princess upon marrying Prince Ludwig of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg in Germany in 1897. Her husband died during the Philippine-American War. Known for her charm, she also invented an automatic balancing bed to prevent seas sickness, and became enamored of flying, eventually participating in events under her maiden name of "Lady Anne Savile" and setting several records. She financed WWI flying ace, Capt. Leslie Hamilton's attempt to fly over the Atlantic Ocean from England to Canada, and accompanied him and Lt-Colonel Frederic Minchin in the attempt. They were never seen again; the trio make a fine TeamWatch team.

TimeWatch Agents - Richard Halliburton

1930s traveller, adventurer, journalist, lecturer, and author, Richard Halliburton took a flying expedition around the world in 18 months, seeing many wonders and enjoying many adventures, swam the length of the Panama Canal, enjoyed the acquaintance of nobles and stars around the globe, and finally disappeared at sea while sailing a Chinese junk across the Pacific.

Shadow of the Demon Lord - New Equipment

One of my Players has a religious character, and they decided they wanted to purchase some specialized equipment for certain rituals and the like. The items they wanted weren't in the core rulebook of Insupposable Instruments, so I whipped them up quickly. Nothing extensive enough for its own file, but I'll combine all the minor stuff into a single Miscellanea pdf some time in the future.

Fate Accelerated - Masters of Umdaar Bonus Material

With the blessing of Masters of Umdaar writer, Dave Joria, I'm posting his compiled bonus materials for the FAE setting, neatly formatted and edited to fit on to 6 pages of A4. The original materials are on his fine website Tangent Artists Tabletop.

I'm hoping to compile and format the various Umdaar villains and monsters posted by himself and others on the website and G+ Communities soon, but first, to gather permissions.

TimeWatch Agents - Siti Wan Kembang

14th century queen regent in eastern Malaysia, Che Siti was said to enter battle on horseback, wielding a sword and in direct command of her army. She never married but adopted a daughter, Puteri Saadong, and both women were said to wield mystical powers. Legend has it that Che Siti never died but instead "disappeared" into the mystical world, and reappears from time to time. Yeah, we know why...

Barbarians of Lemuria (Mythic) - Sorcerous Corruption

In Barbarians of Lemuria: Mythic edition, characters who gain ranks in Magician or the Boons of Magic of the Sorcerer-Kings or Power of the Void, gain accompanying Flaws. This new pdf article features a table of 36 possible corruptions due to such sorcerous dabbling and power. Each corruption is accompanied with a list of possible Flaws that can be used to represent it, and most are accompanied by examples too.

This enables groups to roll for such Flaws, representing the involuntary nature of corruption, may be selected as desired, or may be used as springboards for further ideas.

TimeWatch Agent or Enemy - David "Tiger" Roche

David Roche was an early 1700s soldier, officer, vicious duelist, and adventurer. A middle-class Irish gentleman by birth and education, he was hailed as a hero and damned as a thief and possibly a murderer at various times in his life. He gained his nickname when he sank his teeth into the throat of a rival during a fight. Nothing is known of his later life, but did Timewatch recruit him? Did he somehow gain access to time travel to bedevil the corridors of time? Is he simply someone who makes life more difficult for time travellers he meets?

Timewatch Agents - Hattie Lawton

A detective in the Pinkertons before and during the US Civil War, Hattie Lawton was part of the team that uncovered the alleged 1861 Baltimore assassination plot against President-elect Abraham Lincoln. She was also sent by Pinkerton, alongside colleague Timothy Webster, to pose as a married couple in Richmond and spy on the Confederates. When Lawton fell ill, she tended to him and continued her spying efforts alongside John Scobell, an African-American Union spy who posed as her servant. Sadly, due to Webster's illness, the due had not been able to send reports back to the agency, and so it sent two new agents, Pryce Lewis and John Scully, to find out what had happened. This second duo were recognised and captured, but sources indicate they blew the covers of Lawton and Webster who were duly arrested and convicted. Webster was executed and Lawton was released after a year in prison after which no further record of her exists. Outside of Timewatch recruitment anyway.

Barbarians of Lemuria (Mythic) - Investigator Career

I created the Investigator career to cover characters archetypes such as witch hunters, inquisitors, and thief takers as I didn't feel the existing careers really covered the type and the Wizard-Watch of Tyrus in the setting inspired it.

Barbarians of Lemuria: Mythic - Cheat Sheets

I've created extensive cheat sheets for the Mythic edition of Barbarians of Lemuria. Pages 1-4 give Players pretty much everything they need to run with after character generation. Pages 5-6 are only useful for Alchemists, Priests/Druids, or Magicians. Pages 7-9 are for the GM running battles on land or sea. Pages 10-11 are for the GM and cover NPCs, creatures, and demons.

TimeWatch Agents - Amage

2nd century BC Sarmatian queen, Amage was married to King Medosaccus, an inept, indolent and useless man too busy indulging himself to do much of anything useful. So, Amage took charge of the government, acted as a judge, repulsed invasions, and organised the military herself. Famed throughout Scythia, she even personally led a group of 120 veteran warriors on horseback 185km in a day and night, stormed a palace, slaughtered the guards, personally killed an uncooperative prince who was making life difficult for some of her allies, and forced his son to swear never to invade nearby kingdoms. In TimeWatch, she still kicks ass and has little time for ineffectual men.

TimeWatch Agents - Percy Fawcett

Lt. Colonel Percival Harrison Fawcett was a British artillery officer, archaeologist and explorer who disappeared in the jungles of Brazil in 1925 while seeking El Dorado. He served in Ceylon, trained as a surveyor, and worked for the British Secret Service in North Africa. He also befriended H. Rider Haggard and Arthur Conan Doyle (who was inspired by tales of Fawcett's Amazonian expeditions to write, "The Lost World"). He claimed to have shot at a 62-ft. long giant anaconda, reported small cat-like dogs, and said he had seen the giant Apazauca spider as well. We know he actually stumbled across several cryptids before TimeWatch recruited him.

TimeWatch - Playmat

I've created a TimeWatch playmat. Ideally it's something that would be A3 in size, but as few folks would be able to print that, I've gone for two standard pages instead. The concept is that it makes tracking point-spends easier (and eases the amount of punishing use the main character sheet would face). Each circle is large enough to seat a regular dice comfortably, so the dice faces could be used to countdown expenditure. Alternatively, as Investigative abilities are only a handful of points generally, they could seat a few beads or counters instead, or the sheet could be laminated and easily used with a dry erase marker. Finally, the sheets are form-fillable for device or online use, and there are two large tracks for Health and Chronal Stability.

Shadow of the Demon Lord - Centaur Appearance

Although Riders of the Wind presents a table for a centaur's colour/marking, it doesn't present one for the appearance of the human torso and head. While you could use the table for human appearance in the SotDL core rulebook, I decided to create a table that was more distinctly centaur-based in approach:

3d6 Appearance
3-4 You are animalistic and wild in appearance. Your hair-like pelt covers your human body, your hair is a mane, and your features are crude and equine
5-7 You are somewhat brutish in appearance, covered in hair and with one or two horse-like features
8-13 You are sturdy and hirsute, an average centaur
14-16 You are considered attractive, possessing one or two appealing traits such as a fine coat or pleasing face
17-18 You are highly attractive, being well-proportioned, graceful in movement, and blessed with a lustrous coat, flowing hair and tail, and striking human features

Shadow of the Demon Lord - The Drowned Dead

I enjoyed Slaves in Death and the customizations it presented for the animated dead. However, as I plan on inserting some pirate zombies into play, I needed to create my own quick customization in the same vein:

The drowned dead ooze befouled water as they stagger forward.
Speed -2
Fire Resistance A drowned dead takes half damage from fire.

TimeWatch Character Sheet - Expanded and Fillable

So, I've taken the official TimeWatch character sheet, expanded it by adding a second page for personal history, character likeness, interactions, attacks, notes, and the benefits of spending stitches. I've made the entire thing form-fillable too, though it's my first ever attempt at doing so.

TimeWatch Agents - Jang Yeong-sil

Born a peasant in 1400s Korea (during the Joseon dynasty), Jang's great intelligence and skill saw him rise to a position in the royal palace. A scientist, inventor and astronomer, he created advanced celestial globes to measure astronomical movements, researched printing presses and water clocks, worked with a team to invent Korea's first sundial and their first rain gauge, improved metallurgical knowledge that enabled Korean weaponry to develop, and created the world's first water gauge. After a sedan chair he built for the king broke, he was imprisoned and later expelled from the palace, after which records of him cease. TimeWatch prefers it that way.

TimeWatch Agents - Sayyida al Hurra

Governor of the Tetouan, pirate queen, and ally of the Turkish corsair Oruc Reis ("Barbarossa" to the Europeans), Sayyida was born to a prominent Muslim family and controlled the western Mediterranean. After the death of her husband (ruler of Tetouan) she ruled Tetouan herself, and continued to do so even though she later married the King of Morocco. The Spanish and Portuguese noted her diplomatic skill even though her pirate fleet preyed upon their shipping. After an adventurous life, she was stripped of her power and property by her son-in-law in 1542, and her subsequent fate is unknown (at least to those outside of TimeWatch).

TimeWatch Agents - Mansell Richard James

A Canadian-born flying ace, Captain James made 11 confirmed kills in his Sopwith Camel during the Great War, earning the DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross) for being an, "excellent scout pilot who has at all times shown great skill, courage and determination in attacking enemy machines." After the War he moved to the USA where he took part in a fastest flight contest run by the Boston Globe, flying from Atlantic City to Boston. Despite flying faster than his competitors in an apparently sound aircraft and good spirits, he never reached his destination, and no trace of him has ever been found. His TimeWatch teammates report that he's a devil behind the controls of a spacecraft though.

TimeWatch Agents - Benjamin Bradley

Today's new recruit is Benjamin Bradley, slave, engineer, and inventor. Born a slave in Maryland around 1830, as a teenager he was put to work in an office where he built a working steam engine from scrap metal. His skills were so impressive that he was given a job as an assistant in the science department of the United States Naval Academy. He was paid in full, but his owner kept all of the monies bar $5/month. Nonetheless, Benjamin saved and ended up purchasing his own freedom. He also designed and built a steam engine large enough to power a warship, but because he was a slave, could not hold a patent.

TimeWatch Agents - Princess Eréndira

Princess of the Purépecha in Mexico in the early 1500s, according to local folklore this teenager led her people's war against the invading Spaniards and taught her warriors how to ride horses after killing a conquistador and stealing his horse. She ultimately lost, but tales differ as to whether she took her own life or fled and was hidden. We know TimeWatch had other plans.

TimeWatch Agents - James Harrod

Today's TimeWatch recruit is James Harrod, 1700s pioneer, soldier, and hunter. He served in the French and Indian War as well as Lord Dunmore's War, and was a colonel in the local militia. He led expeditions into what is now Kentucky and Illinois, was noted for his frontiersman skills and ability with a rifle, and was generous to local Indians even though his brother and father's first wife were killed by them. There are multiple theories regarding his eventual disappearance, but we know TimeWatch found a prime recruit.
